COMMUNITY ORGANIZING ASSISTANCE
Whether it be a proposed private landfill or a polluting manufacturing plant that has been around for decades, once a community has discovered that there's a potential threat in their vicinity, they contact us. Our work includes teaching the basics of organizing and developing an organizing strategy that helps transform a few individuals desire to “do something” for their communities into powerful action. This usually means
- forming an organization
- researching the specific hazards and the politics and power behind what's going on
- identifying what is at the root of the problem and analyzing the options for solving it
- creating and carrying out a strategy that works
- providing leadership and organizational development help to sustain the community group to solve future problems
- connecting community groups to each other in a network to share information, resources and support.
- connecting resources
